Letters Extra: Bereavement article strikes a chord

I am writing about the article concerning bereavement ( Friday Magazine, April 16 2004 issue ). My husband and I are both teachers at the same school and our youngest daughter died last November very suddenly of myocarditis.

Needless to say it was and still is a very traumatic experience for us all. Our daughter’s junior school has been so fantastic in dealing with the tragedy - counselling, helping and being a part of her funeral and designing a memorial garden which was opened by her class.

Her class teacher coped fantastically with a memory wall and her class have her photo on the wall of their classroom, which will go with them when they move to Year 5.

The school we teach at was deeply affected by her death and have been a tremendous support. I was very moved by your article and can relate to the ideas presented.
