Letters Extra: Could do better

With reference to your Learning Support supplement in TES Dec 6 2002. Come on TES, you can do better than this!

As a Chartered Librarian plus trained teacher I work full time in a beacon girls’ inner London Foundation school in Burntwood, and we deserve more of a mention than “The library assistant works with the chartered librarian so that the library can stay open from 8-5pm every day.”

Let’s have a feature article - a good school library is a vital central resource, keeps up academic standards, encourages a love a reading, organises author visits, book sales etc - I could go on.

Please show how “up to date” the TES is and get your act together on the important role of the Library or resource centre.
