Letters extra: is it art?

Would Chaucer or Shakespeare have passed their GCSEs in English?

Please don't compare the art education of 14 to 16-year-olds with the genius of Picasso and Van Gogh. Most of our students will not go on to become artists but need the structure thatnbsp; examinations provide. These encourage a wide range of skills and develop understanding. Art is not just about the finished product but also the process of making it. Isn't it time to move away from the old prejudices that remain about art?

By the way, of course Van Gogh and Picasso would have passed their GCSE, their influences, ideas and thoughts have been well documented.
