Letters extra: Preposterous loss of marbles

Ministers seem to have lost their marbles over the issue of classroom assistants. Not only is their role too vague (Letters,TES,175) but the government’s own research shows that they don’t even help pupils to learn ( TES news,175). Finally the amendment to the Bill allowing assistants to take control of classes is preposterous - if I go to see my doctor I don’t want to be treated by a nurse. Ditch this insane gimmick now.
