I’ve just had a bright idea - overpaid policy wonks will call it an `initiative’ and e-mail it to all schools for immediate implementation, of course, but to this poor, overworked teacher, it’s just an idea.

Following on from the Blairite approach to truanting kids - jail the mothers - surely the same idea, thought carefully through, can be applied to ease the teacher shortage?

From now on, any serving teacher handing in their notice will be sent to jail and not released until they promise to return to their desks.
