Original paper headline: Religion in assembly is cross examined

Maybe we should reinstate assemblies of religious nature for post-16s in England, as Dr Barry Morgan argued last week. But only if, in the interests of perspective and a rounded education, schools are also legally required to run history lessons showing the impact of organised religion - good and bad - throughout history. Yes, faith has played “a fundamental role in moulding and shaping our lives”, but sadly often to the detriment, even he would have to allow, of our “cultural understanding and mutual respect”.
