(Photograph) - Top marks for Boringdon primary, Plymouth, where 91 per cent of 11-year-olds achieved level 4 in their English national tests this year. Nationally 75 per cent of pupils achieved this standard, falling short of the Government’s target of 80 per cent. Across the country 73 per cent reached the required standard in maths, the highest-ever proportion, however this was still below the 75 per cent target. Professor David Hopkins, head of the Government’s standards unit, is now to focus on improving the leadership qualities of primary heads.
