Lifelong learning is desired result

I absolutely agree with the sentiments expressed in “Bottoms up to a new language”, (TES, February 14).

I am a cover teacher in Birmingham and have been complaining for years about the current education language. I hate the words “targets”, “objectives” and “strategies”.

I do agree with the need to create a climate of encouragement, even if the Government just wants “results”, but “targets” are an end in themselves - and I want children to continue learning, for life - just as I am doing.
