‘Lipstick mechanics’ won’t help to smash gender stereotypes

The winsome photo of the “lipstick mechanic” on your magazine’s cover makes no greater contribution to young women’s futures than the airbrushing of models in cosmetics adverts.

Designer smudges of grease on the chin, long wisps of hair over the face and open flaps of breast pockets are an industrial safety officer’s nightmare. And by the way, someone should have told her that her flies were undone.
