These books are the fruit of a self-development project in Sandwell LEA where key stage 2 teachers have shared successful practice in teaching the National Literacy Strategy. Both in origin and presentation, the books have a practial authority about them.

Book 1 focuses on the literacy hour, and Book 2 on writing - the emphasis overall falls much more on writing than reading. The books spell teaching and organisational strategies, provide model plans and discuss examples of work that should prove supportive and suggestive to both students and practising teachers.
