Julia Donaldson, best known as the author of The Gruffalo and other children’s books, will be reading stories, singing songs and answering questions live online next month.

On May 26, as part of the Scottish Book Trust’s “Meet Our Authors” series, delivered in partnership with BBC Scotland Learning, Ms Donaldson will lead a 30-minute session of stories and songs aimed at nursery to P4 pupils.

Meanwhile, P5 pupils in a cluster of Angus primaries have revealed their favourite author.

The children have been taking part in “Which Writer Wins?” - a competition designed to give primary pupils the same opportunity that secondary students enjoy through the Angus Book Awards.

Pupils have spent the last six weeks reading books by Geraldine McCaughrean, Jenny Nimmo and Kaye Umansky before voting for their favourite author.

At Seaview Primary, librarian Hazel Cook revealed Ms Umansky as the winner.
