Back to policy wonks who have escaped Number 10, there are glad tidings from Peter Hyman. The former Downing St spin-doctor-turned-teaching assistant (in Islington, of course) has announced the birth of a second sprog.

Could the man who coined the phrase “bog-standard comprehensive” really have timed conception so he would get paternity leave in August? Given that Hyman helped invent Labour’s meticulously planned “grid system” used to drip-feed policy announcements to the media, the answer is certainly yes.
