Long-leg loathing

Tipula paludosa, don't you love her? Well, no. She's a crane-fly, commonly known as the daddy-long-legs, and a plague of the insects seems to be causing angst in schools.

"Hate them, hate them, hate them," is the measured view of sheep_tea in an exchange in the TES online staffroom. "I catch them, then feed them to the spiders," says dugh. Fycariad prefers pulling their legs off, putting them in a straw and blowing it.

Maybe moosekins83 pinpoints the reason for some of the loathing: "They cling to the windows and peer in, like bloody HMI spies."
