Proposals that would keep teenagers in compulsory education until 18 have been supported in part by the Assembly government. In response to a leaked document, reported by a national broadsheet last week, a spokesperson said that education should not end with GCSEs at the age of 16. But the Assembly stopped short of calling for all pupils to be forced to stay on.
