Glasgow’s resilient Lord Provost, the veteran Pat Lally who has just announced his retirement from civic life, recently cut the first sod at Langside College’s new student residences. Outgoing principal Alistair Tyre, was heard to observe: “I hope the complex lasts as long as wee Pat’s career.”
