Yesterday, a survey arrived at my school from PricewaterhouseCoopers asking for information on behalf of the Department for Education and Skills about how I spend the school's formula capital.
Several thoughts occur to me. Why doesn't the DfES ask? How much is it paying for this? Why have I more pieces of paper to fill in?
From 2006, the regulations (for aided schools) require us to report on how we have spent the money at the end of the financial year to the DfES, and before this time we had to apply for approval for any scheme. So the DfES already has that information. Is this a case of a department not knowing what it is doing within its own organisation?
