What would you rescue if your school was on fire?

Edith Holden's Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady (out of print, but likely to turn up second-hand) is a fund of ideas for Joyce Leyland, a special needs support teacher at Bailey Green first school, Newcastle upon Tyne "The most inspirational, indispensable and beautiful book. I've used it since 1977 with children of all ages to find out about the natural word. Edith Holden puts in our hands flowers, fruits, plants and creatures of all the seasons. There are poems, snatches of country lore and wisdom, and a fascinating account of Holden's life. I have used this for English, maths, history and more."
