What would you rescue if the school was on fire and why?

The Rattle Bag, the chunky 1982 anthology edited by Seamus Heaney and Ted Hughes (Faber pound;12.99), is “a joy”, says John Clarke, head of English at Castleford high school, West Yorkshire.

“Other anthologies have arbitrary sections; The Rattle Bag simply has more than 500 poems.

“The reader is never more than a page away from an old favourite or a poe which surprises with its energy and vigour. This anthology is ideal for informing any scheme of work on poetry or, better still, for picking up and browsing through when the planning and marking are finished for the day.”

What would you rescue if the school was on fire, and why? We pay pound;40 for each suggestion published. Write to Love it, TES Friday, Admiral House, 66-68 East Smithfield, London E1W 1BX
