Lucky Llantarnam school has another winner on its staff. Paul Edwards, 48, won inspirational secondary teacher of the year at the New Directions inspirational teacher awards held in Cardiff earlier this month.
Headteacher David Bright nominated his assistant head, responsible for the transition from the primary sector and key stage 3, along with fellow staff and pupils. In his nomination, Mr Bright said Mr Edwards had shown great dedication and always brought humour to the classroom.
He said: “What will strike you most about Paul is his encyclopaedic knowledge of the young people who attend the school, and of their families.”
Mr Edwards joined Llantarnam 26 years ago, when he was newly qualified.
Within four years, the Aberdare-born teacher was head of history.
He said: “I would never give up this job - I absolutely love it.”
