New ways of making the numeracy strategy enjoyable and workable are always welcome. The Milk Maths Challenge traces the route of dairy products from cow to child while offering a range of questions for primary pupils. Fields, milking parlours and tankers, cheese and butter factories, depots and delivery vans provide the contexts; calculations, fractions, percetages, weights and capacities, speeds, distances, clocks and temperatures provide the problems. A table of appropriate vocabulary and learning objectives supplement the cheerful “cowculations”.

The Milk Maths Challenge is free from the National Dairy Council, 5-7 John Princes Street, London W1G 0JW. Tel: 020 7499 7822. Email: enquiry@ndc.uk.com
