(Photograph) - Five-times Olympic gold medalist Sir Steve Redgrave is a member of a new independent review which will be looking at ways to improve school sport and pave the way for the next generation of star athletes.

Former sports ministers Lord Moynihan (Conservative) and Kate Hoey (Labour) will chair the inquiry. Lord Moynihan said: ‘Schools need to do more to identify talent.

‘Too many pupils never discover the true extent of their abilities. We have had too much wasted potential. This review aims to ensure future generations will have a chance to succeed whatever school they attend.’ Photograph by PA
