Hundreds of pupils within the Holyrood learning community in Glasgow are contributing to an appeal to fill 2,000 backpacks with gifts for children in Malawi. The Glasgow youngsters are donating pens, pencils, T-shirts, jotters, towels and other basic items considered luxuries in Malawi.
The campaign in the cluster led by Holyrood Secondary is being backed by politicians including Jack McConnell, the First Minister, Walter Smith, the Scotland manager, and famous former pupils including Fran Healy (of Travis), Jim Kerr (Simple Minds), and hurdler Lee McConnell, the Commonwealth bronze medallist.
