A teacher from Manchester has said goodbye to his pupils and gone to take a gap year in Nepal.

Ben Daly, 32, set out for the capital, Kathmandu, last week to work on a year-long educational and environmental project.

“I’ve done a lot of travelling in the past, but Nepal was somewhere I had always wanted to visit,” he said. “The main project I’ll be involved in will be teaching English in schools and with street children.”

Mr Daly will also be helping with community and energy projects run by the charity Our Sansar, which was founded last year. ib
