Kung-fu and the piercing shrieks of Beijing opera could become part of secondary education. A new scheme run by the charity China Now and backed by HSBC bank will provide funding for secondary pupils to learn Mandarin as well as attend martial arts and Beijing opera workshops. A teachers’ pack to help primary pupils count to 10 in Mandarin and create artwork for Chinese new year is at:
