Mosshead Primary in Bearsden triumphed in the Four Nations Maths Challenge last month. Not only did the “Mosshead Mathletes” from the East Dunbartonshire school come first in Scotland across primary and secondary sectors, but it also took first place in the primary sector for the whole of the UK.
The individual top score of all 77,854 entrants across the UK went to Sharan Maiya, a first-year pupil at The Glasgow Academy, while second place also went to a Scottish pupil - Ryan Conlan, S4, from St Matthew’s Academy in Saltcoats, North Ayrshire.
In terms of the best scores achieved by a class, Grangemouth High shone, with one S1 class coming fourth in the UK and three - another S1 and two S2 classes - coming in the top 10.
In all, 1,686 schools took part in the online maths challenge, which lasted a week.
