The BBC’s Charter requires the Corporation “to provide sound and television programmes of information, education and entertainment”.

Ask students to evaluate a selection of quiz shows by these criteria - in what ways are they informative, educational and entertaining?

Can your students devise and video a quiz show in a new format? Perhaps not so difficult as it might appear. Call My Bluff owes something to a Victorian parlour game, Dictionary. (Details at www.oldfashionedliving.comparlour-games.html ) An internet search for “Victorian parlour games” (“parlor” will throw up American sites) should provide inspiration. Find a snappy new title and an original twist, and you could make a fortune.
