Meningitis scare

HUNDREDS of children were given emergency meningitis jabs this week after a six-year-old boy died from the illness.

Jordan Blankley, from Broughton Astley, Leicestershire, was admitted to hospital on

Monday evening, but died the

following day, from meningococcal septicaemia whic develops from either the B or C strain of the illness.

Children at Jordan’s school, Old Mill primary, were given the vaccination on Wednesday. By the end of the week around 1,000 children, including pupils from two other primaries in the village, were due to receive the jabs.
