Merger plans thrown out

Councillors have voted against radical proposals to close or merge more than 30 Cardiff schools, in a bid to reduce surplus places and improve buildings. The plans, produced by the minority Lib-Dem administration, were thrown out at a meeting last week, following protests from parents, pupils and teachers.
