Paul Little, principal of City of Glasgow College, said a year on from the merger, the experience had largely been a positive one.
The new college had just been inspected, and the report confirmed the merger had had no detrimental impact on learners' experiences, while the college was making good progress with its implementation plan.
One key to the merger's success had been its team approach, as well as careful planning and leadership, Mr Little continued. Constant communication with staff had proved essential. About 35 consultations had taken place, and staff had asked "well over 130 questions".
On a weekly basis, they receive updates from the executive leadership team, and a staff magazine is published monthly.
It hasn't been plain sailing, Mr Little admitted, although "once the decision was made and staff had raised their concerns, the mood did change and they very quickly got behind the merger".
Many had seen benefits from it, he said, such as an employment guarantee for three years to all staff.
