Meridian school

LAST week's story "Fairer deal for shire" contrasted the budgets of neighbouring secondary schools in Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire. It said that at Meridian school, in Hertfordshire, "classes below the sixth form have no more than 22 pupils". In fact, 22 is the average class size below the sixth form; some classes are larger. The TES has also been asked to point out that the figure given for the proportion of time teachers at Meridian spend in front on their pupils, 75 per cent, is an average. Because of funding difficulties, the school has set a deficit budget for the past four years.
