(Photograph) - Easter parade: Youngsters from Whiteinch Nursery in Glasgow were among the first to visit Whiteinch Library to see an exhibition about Miffy, the much-loved white rabbit of the Dick Bruna’s books, during the only Scottish visit of its British tour.

It aims to encourage pre-schoolers into reading and children can see displays of Miffy and other characters, pick up Miffy books, participate in storytelling sessions and join in with other activities. The Whiteinch Nursery pupils had the chance to meet Miffy, who surprised them by being twice their height, make Miffy ears and colour in his picture.

Advocating library accessibility for children, Bruna says: “As a child, I often visited my local library in my home town in the Netherlands. I discovered all sorts of books there. It was a joy to read stories and look at pictures and let my imagination roam.”

‘Miffy at the Library’ is at Whiteinch Library, 14 Victoria Park Drive South, Glasgow, until May 5. To book tickets for the Miffy craft and storytelling sessions contact Fiona Beaton, tel 0141 204 7140. All the events are free.
