MINISTERS are considering paying mothers pound;10 a week to breast-feed their babies. The incentive would come in the form of vouchers for healthy foods such as bread, milk and fruit.

Women ministers are also pushingfor an end to the ban on breast-feeding in the House of Commons. Education minister Margaret Hodge and Tessa Jowell, health minister, are to meet the Speaker in an effort to improve facilities for mothers.
