Two special schools are to benefit by capital grants totalling Pounds 2.4 million. Donaldson’s College in Edinburgh, which provides education for the deaf, will receive half of the sum between 1998 and 2000 to help rebuild its primary department and take children with severe language and communication difficulties.
Harmeny School in Balerno will create a new teaching complex for pupils with behavioural problems.
Michael Forsyth, the Secretary of State, said that the grants would enable “innovators in their respective fields to lead the way through the millennium”.
