Minister: subject choices ‘scandalous’

Schools are trying to boost their league-table rankings by pushing students into a “mish-mash” of A-level subjects that fail to prepare them for degree courses and careers, universities minister David Willetts has claimed. Mr Willetts said it was a “scandal” that pupils were choosing subjects that they were unaware would harm their career options.
