What do a teenage couch potato and a 75-year-old with a walking stick have in common? A poster from Motability encourages key stage 2 children to think sensibly and subtly about what it means to be mobile. Portraying people of various ages and with different capacities, it sets the scene for an accompanying series of classroom activities. These include work with language, such as rewriting the diary of a disabled athlete or promoting a campaign for fair parking. Attractive maths ideas involve the analysis of data on car purchase under the Motability scheme and timing different ways of travelling a kilometre. The poster is being distributed to 13,000 primary schools by Renault UK.
