Mobility over pavements;Postscript;Letter;News and opinion

THANK you for giving coverage to our pupil mobility report (TES, November 12). But in seeking to clarify the statistics, you inadvertently halved an important one.

In our local education authority survey, the primary school with the highest mobility had a rate equivalent to 9 out of 10 children leaving and being replaced in the course of a year. Obviously this is at the extreme end of the mobility spectrum and was probably an exceptional year for that school.

However, a small number of comparable examples have been drawn to our attention.
