A modelling game has been voted the “most popular activity” by my students, and it came in handy just before the AS module exam on glacial environments.

Place a set of cards containing the name of a landscape feature face down on each group’s table.

One student from each group takes a card and makes a model of the feature using Play-Doh.

The first student in each group to name the feature correctly gets the card and begins modelling the next landscape.

An alternative is to take turns so that everyone gets a turn at modelling.

Remarkably, two of the features on my cards came up in the next exam.
