Teachers looking for inspiration in design and technology should try this year’s London Model Engineering Exhibition.
It will have more than 1,000 models on show, from locomotives to boats, tanks, fighter planes and traditional steam engines.
Activities for pupils include playing with remote control models and the chance to build and fly a model plane. Children can also try driving a model tank and create and launch rockets.
A Nasa simulation system will demonstrate how far rockets travel in different atmospheres.
A spokeswoman for the show said: “There will be plenty of opportunities for children from primary to secondary level to have a go at model making and be inspired by the kind of intricate models that are made. Teachers will be able to pick up a wealth of ideas for use in the classroom.”
Visitors will be able to buy model-making equipment from 90 specialist suppliers.
The show takes place at Alexandra Palace from Friday, January 18 to Sunday, January 20, 2008.
Tickets are pound;9.50 for adults and pound;5.50 for children, with discounts on pre-booked tickets before January 4.
