From one to 100 words

If you are looking for a quick-reference guide for young learners who are new to foreign languages, the “My First 100 Words” series from b small publishing can help.

What is it?

A range of compact, colourful reference books available in French and Spanish. They introduce 100 key words to readers. Each page contains only two words, each with a large image, vocabulary, pronunciation and English translation.

The books are divided into topic areas that appeal to young learners, including clothes, toys, food, party, bathtime, cooking, playground, animals, transport, weather, colours and numbers.

An alphabetical word list at the back helps pupils to quickly find words they are struggling with, and a fun “Alpha Quiz” will get them excited about language learning from the outset.

What else?

The book is also available in English: a great companion for pupils who speak English as an additional language.

Keep vocabulary learning creative with Janice Horrocks’ balloon number colouring-in worksheet.

Or get The Simpsons on board and help pupils to remember beginner words with Nickyga’s worksheet.
