Teachers can choose between two kinds of drama experience: the theatre visit, with the excitement and stress it brings, or the friendly troupes, who set up in the school hall. For those willing to forego the soft option, this term’s challenge seems to be Monster.

Promising a “sharp, unsentimental and gripping story of crime, truth and responsibility” with bad language and reference to violence, Visible Fictions investigate the web of circumstance surrounding an adolescent after the death of a shopkeeper during an armed robbery. The play, with its education and outreach programmes, tours from next week until mid-October.
