We all have obligations, whether we acknowledge them or not. No man is an island.

Parents and taxpayers invest many thousands of pounds in the education and welfare of every young person. They expect that these young people will repay this investment by making positive contributions to society in the course of time. It is part of a teacher’s job to make this clear. It is natural that some young people should resent this obligation, but they cannot deny it.

It is wrong to indulge in any activity which carries unnecessary risk and causes distress to those to whom we are deeply indebted.
