Headteachers in Wales are to conduct an investigation into the amount of money they receive from the Government to show how badly they have lost out. The Welsh Assembly and local education authorities claim funding per pupil in Wales is higher than in eight out of 10 English regions. But the National Association of Head Teachers says that during the past two years Welsh schools with 1,000 pupils have received pound;50,000 less than their English counterparts, due to differences in the way the Chancellor’s extra funds for schools have been distributed.
