A Year 5 project which has drawn in the whole school and enhanced subjects across the curriculum has involved pupils in making a film, which the children titled “Spaced Out” and wrote, designed, directed and videoed themselves with help from local secondary pupils.

They even composed the music, and the literacy and numeracy links have been many.

It’s part of the Film Council’s First Light Initiative to help schools get funding and expert advice to make their own films.

We’d especially hoped to increase motivation in the boys - and it’s really worked, with very positive role models among the older visiting pupils.
