Mr Osborne, meet Mr Putin

At my academy in the North of England, results have risen for five consecutive years thanks to a committed staff. Reading the “done deal” of regionalised salaries (“Osborne pushes on with regional pay deals”, 23 March), I am concerned that the knock-on effect will be migration, migration, migration. In line with his thinking, will George Osborne also be introducing “regionalised mortgage rates” to reflect the cut in salaries, or regionalised taxation? Perhaps rather than cutting, even in this difficult climate, the chancellor should hold talks with Vladimir Putin, who places teachers so highly he is doubling their pay.
