Murderous plot

Staff at Afan College, Port Talbot, are going to macabre lengths to interest youngsters in science.

The college will be staging mock murders over the summer to interest 12 and 13-year-olds in forensic science, and has enlisted college finance officer Stephen Hearn to pose as a corpse with stab wounds.

Fingerprinting, soil sampling and identifying forged money are also part of the grisly exercise.

Science lecturer Ben Mason said: "The popularity of television crime fiction made us think we could use it to make our summer school project more interesting."
