DIVERSITY and citizenship are among the themes of this year’s museums and galleries month in May organised by Engage, the National Association for Gallery Education. Regional seminars and a one-day conference at Tate Modern on London’s South Bank, funded by the Department for Education and Skills, will explore how museums and galleries can work with schools to foster the new citizenship curriculum. Institutions in Norwich, Walsall, Sunderland, Bristol and Bournemouth are hosting “twilight” seminars between 4.30 and 6.30 aimed at teachers, citizenship co-ordinators and museum and gallery education staff.
