Music pupils across the UK are being encouraged to take part in a sponsored Practice-a-thon, launched last week by Scotland’s famous young violinist Nicola Benedetti.

The annual fundraiser for CLIC Sargent, the children’s cancer charity, is designed to motivate pupils to practise more, whether singing or playing instruments, over two weeks.

Of the money raised by a school, 75 per cent will go to fund services for children diagnosed with cancer. The school can keep the remainder to fund its own music programmes or buy instruments.

The charity is also organising a practice-a-thon for dance students.

For more information, a free fund-raising pack or to register, contact CLIC Sargent, tel 0845 120 6340.
