Growing up quickly

We always worry about what children are learning in school, but sometimes they have responsibilities that stretch far beyond the classroom. The Carers Trust charity has created a set of resources to help teachers understand how to support young carers who may be looking after parents, siblings or other relatives.

What is it?

E-learning module. Interactive screens including facts and quizzes to educate and test users about the impact that caring has on young people and the challenges they face. This is a useful training tool that is ready to use in schools.

Information pack. There are 34 downloadable chapters dealing with issues such as behaviour, bullying, missing deadlines and bereavement.

Research report. A five-page document with good practice examples of leadership and training to ensure everyone at school knows how to support young carers.
