The Muslim Parliament for Great Britain has called for tighter controls on Islamic religious schools after claims that thousands of pupils are being physically or sexually abused.
It said that almost half of the country’s 700 madrassas - Mosque-based schools -use unlawful corporal punishment to discipline pupils.
