I told my class that I had received an important phone call from the Fairytale Fashion Academy, which had set us a special challenge: design an outfit for a character that would help them in their story.

After a brainstorming session and paired talking, pupils sketched an outfit. Then they wrote sentences to describe what they had done and why. The results were fantastic. Goldilocks was given padded trousers so each chair would feel just right; the Gingerbread Man had a speedy tracksuit as well as floating shoes and Jack was given slippers so that he could creep around the Giant’s castle.

We’re now going to use these ideas to create our own versions of the stories.

I never thought my class could be so imaginative - and the Fashion Academy was thrilled too.
